About the role

Provides individual and group counseling to clients with mental health or substance abuse issues. Responsible for intakes, treatment planning, clinical documentation, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary health team.

SUMMARY

Therapists provides ongoing individual and group counseling to an assigned population. The Therapist completes documentation requirements reflecting clinical necessity which meets program and agency standards. Therapists interact regularly with other staff, including the Health Team, and treatment providers to assess and treat individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol tobacco, and/or other drugs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning, psycho-social assessments, client advocacy, prevention and education.

  • Essential functions and responsibilities
  • Completes intakes, develops treatment plans, determines clinical diagnosis and refer clients to appropriate resources internally or externally
  • Prepares, plans, facilitates, and implements direct care of consumers through groups and/or individual therapy
  • Participates in treatment team meetings providing information pertinent to welfare of consumer for supervision
  • Provides crisis assistance and consults with various third parties as deemed appropriate
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner
  • Coordinates input from all team members into the comprehensive treatment plan
  • Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic goals and objectives
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
  • Maintains effective working relationships and strategic alliances with consumers, other staff, the community and other non-profit organizations
  • Exercises independent judgment
  • Works effectively in a team environment
  • Seeks supervision as appropriate for safety of consumers and adherence to Policy and Procedures
  • Encourages team work and supports the culture and goals of the agency
  • Maintains compliance with state agencies and any other funding /contract sources
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Licensed or eligible to go under supervision in the state of Oklahoma as one of the following
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LFMT)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Works effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient in use of technology to perform duties
  • Physical requirements
  • Must have the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel locally approximately 10% of the time
  • Ability to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printer

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree and licensure or eligibility for supervision in Oklahoma as an LPC, LADC, LFMT, or LCSW. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
