Sonographers provide quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
  • Solves complex problems.
  • Exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
  • Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.

Qualifications

Education/Training Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines. Licensure/Certification Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate. Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry Experience All experience levels encouraged to apply

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited sonography school and hold RDMS or CCI certification. Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification and ARDMS physics registry are also required.
