About the role

Provide cardiopulmonary diagnostic services by performing various adult and pediatric echocardiograms. Analyze patient data and prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist review while ensuring ICAEL accreditation standards are met.

Job Summary

To provide to patients cardiopulmonary diagnostic services and facilitate patient care through timely reports to physicians in accordance with the Hospital and Departmental mission statements, policies and procedures.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Follow Departmental, Hospital and Human Resources Policy & Procedures.
  • 2.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing adult and pediatric echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physician and in accordance with standard practices.
  • 3.
  • Utilize independent judgment, with real-time and off-line manipulation of Echocardiographic images for capture, display and analysis of echocardiography data.
  • 4.
  • Analyze patient medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures asking of questions relevant to testing or procedure to be performed.
  • 5.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by Cardiologist, including comparison of previous studies.
  • 6.
  • Ensure ICAEL requirements are met and maintained: CMEs, policies and procedures, protocols, etc. are updated annually.
  • 7.
  • Contribute to organizing and preparing ICAEL application to maintain an accredited status.
  • 8.
  • Process patient billing per established procedure.
  • 9.
  • Use common sense and special medical skills with regard to patient age, diagnosis and physical abilities.
  • 10.
  • Directly interact with the patient and physician in receipt, review, scanning and reporting of Echocardiograms.
  • 11.
  • Promote an environment that focuses on patient safety.

Education/Experience Required

1. Two-year Allied Health degree in Ultrasound Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent education. 2. Three (3) years minimum work experienced preferred, but new graduates will be considered.

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications

  • Registration or Certification by one of the following authorities is required within one year of employment:
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).

Work Shift: 1st Shift (United States of America)

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 6

Requirements

Requires a two-year Allied Health degree in Ultrasound or Cardiovascular Technology and preferred experience of three years. Certification from ARDMS, RDCS, or RCS is required within one year of employment.
