PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) UVA Health – Behavioral Health Prince William Location: Prince William Medical Center, 8700 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA Position Overview: UVA Health is seeking a PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join our Behavioral Health team at Prince William Medical Center. This role is a key part of our inpatient behavioral health service line, providing high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population while supporting expanded access to mental health services across the region. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-centered environment with strong administrative and clinical support. Practice Highlights: Hospital-based inpatient psychiatry role Primary location: Prince William Medical Center Remote coverage for Haymarket and Culpeper Medical Centers EPIC electronic medical record system Support from Behavioral Health Access Team, outpatient/IOP teams, and Emergency Department Closed ICU model Supportive leadership and administrative infrastructure Strong interdisciplinary support teams Opportunity to impact access to behavioral health services across multiple hospitals Established, respected health system with robust resources Collegial work environment with engaged leadership Schedule & Call: PRN 7 on / 7 off schedule Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (on-site rounding) Key Responsibilities: Provide inpatient psychiatric care on the Behavioral Health Inpatient (BHIP) unit Manage an average daily census of 8–12 patients (on-site and remote) Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management Provide consultative services within scope of practice as requested Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives Deliver care in accordance with all regulatory, accreditation, and clinical standards Support continuity of care and patient needs during transitions

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility) Current DEA license The base compensation range for this role is$292,910 - $373,642 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.

Requirements

Requires an MD or DO from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Psychiatry and hold an active Virginia medical license and DEA license.
