The LPN Outpatient provides practical nursing support in a physician practice or clinic setting, assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, and coordination of services. Collaborates with healthcare providers and team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
This position is full time, working Monday-Friday 8a-5p
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus when successful candidate meets applicable guidelines.
The LPN Outpatient
Provides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting.
Performs patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.
Prepares patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.
Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.
Documents patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
Provides patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.
Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and ancillary services.
Maintains exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensures supplies and equipment are available.
Performs laboratory-related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.
Performs radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.
Adheres to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.
Supports telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable.
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.

Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.
Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.
