The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive evaluation and therapeutic procedures for patients visiting urgent care centers. They collaborate with physicians to manage patient care, order diagnostic tests, and coordinate transitions to primary care providers.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive care to the patients visiting the Genesis Urgent Care center.; The NP provides a broad range of evaluation and procedures within the NP;s scope of practice that would otherwise be performed by the physician.
Essential duties 1.
Works with the collaborating physician and department administration to meet needs of patients and the organization.
2.
Performs pertinent physical exams and clinical evaluations of assigned patients and document findings in the medical record.
3.
Performs procedures within the NP scope of practice as required for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes.
4.
Orders and reviews laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as required.
Notifies the attending physician of any problems that may require immediate attention or intervention and coordinates any required nursing interventions.
5.
Coordinates transition to the patient’s primary care physician or other appropriate providers for care of chronic conditions or otherwise that cannot be met in the urgent care clinic.
6.
Maintains balance between outcome, cost and process.
7.
Works closely with patients and families to provide education on wellness, prevention and early intervention.
8.
Functions as clinician, collaborator, consultant, and educator to accomplish desired clinical outcomes.
9.
Functions as a self-directed professional using knowledge of nursing theory and advanced practice.
10.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of physical assessment, diagnostic studies, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology and pharmacology.
1. BSN or Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and current Ohio RN License. 2. Certification as Nurse Practitioner. 3. Minimum five (5) years clinical experience. 4. Valid certificate to prescribe in accordance with sections 4732.48-4723.483 of the Ohio Revised Code, Rules of Ohio Board of Nursing and in the Ohio Board of Nursing formulary. 5. Must have Adult Certification or Family Practice Certification. 6. Current CPR certification. 7. One year of experience in acute care setting, and current ACLS certified. 8. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others. 9. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and apply clinical knowledge. 10. Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan. 11. Demonstrated competence in age-specific patient care.
