About the role

The Mobile Phlebotomist is responsible for the proper collection, labeling, and transport of various biological samples from patients in the Spokane region. They must adhere to strict safety, HIPAA, and CLIA guidelines to ensure specimen integrity and patient safety.

Kashi Clinical Laboratories (KCL) provides diagnostic testing to hospitals and clinics throughout the world. We are currently seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team on a temporary/seasonal basis.

The Mobile Phlebotomist will serve the Spokane region. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record is required for this role. The Phlebotomist ensures the proper collection, labeling, storage, and transport of blood, urine, stool, and other samples to the laboratory for testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Exhibits and promotes the professional image of Kashi Clinical. Follow CLIA guidelines to correctly identify the patient before any specimen is obtained: Minimum of two (2) unique identifiers; full name (no nicknames), date of birth, medical requisition number, social security number are examples. Verify all test requisitions are properly filled out Obtain the proper sample (i.e., whole blood, serum, plasma) by performing venipuncture and/or fingerstick Label all samples with the two (2) unique identifiers Maintain proper labeling of all tubes, primary and pour-off tubes (daughter tubes) Maintain proper documentation and identification of samples for transport to the laboratory Ability to perform blood culture collection without contamination of site or sample Know the proper techniques for collection of timed, fasting, or random collections Be able to explain the proper collection for urine, stool, sputum, or culture swabs Observe all safety protocols for the Client’s facility when you are collecting samples: This will be proper use of protective equipment (PPE), observation of isolation protocols, and hand washing Follow all Universal Precautions and OSHA Standards when handling biological specimens Strictly adhere to HIPAA Regulations Maintain daily tallies of collections performed Inform Phlebotomy Supervisor when a significant shift in collection volumes is noticed Be aware and request supplies as needed to fulfill daily duties. This will include office supplies as well as phlebotomy supplies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Phlebotomy Certificate (proof of certification required upon hire) Computer and technology proficient Must maintain a current driver’s license and clean driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds Frequently required to speak and hear Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time and bend, stretch, and stoop Frequently required to use all types of vision, such as close vision and computer vision Frequently required to use hand dexterity for use of standard office, phlebotomy, and clinical equipment Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and/or extended hours as Company dictates Occasional exposure to various temperatures Frequent exposure to blood and bodily fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Phlebotomy Certificate. A current driver's license and a clean driving record are required for mobile travel.
