Job Description: Summary
West Campus OR is part of the West Ashley Ambulatory Surgery Facility.
The facility has 5-Orthpedic OR suites, 3-endoscopy procedure rooms, a Vascular Interventional suite (VIR) and an outpatient Cath/EP Lab.
This position is for the OR and our surgeries are Orthopedic/Total Joints/Sports Medicine/Spine cases.
The patient population is primarily adult with some procedures done on teenage athletes.
Although we also hire Certified Scrub Techs., RNs hired into the OR are trained to both scrub and circulate.
All surgery is performed on an outpatient basis between the hours of 7am - 5pm, no weekends or holidays.
The ambulatory surgery facilities are part of the MUSC Magnet designation and are Joint Commission Accredited in surgery; we also have advanced certification in Shoulder/Hip/Knee Total Joints at the Main Hospital and West Campus.
West Campus has also been nationally recognized by AORN as a Center of Excellence in surgical safety for smoke evacuation.

4-10 hour shifts. Will be required to work a late shift to finish cases; 630-1700. No nights, weekends, major holidays, or call.
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
