  • Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the X-Ray Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and radiologic duties to support the delivery of quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting providers with patient care, performing diagnostic X-ray procedures in accordance with provider orders and established safety standards, and completing patient follow-up as needed. As a member of the healthcare team, the X-Ray Medical Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and interact effectively with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while remaining sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

  • Responsibilities: Prepare patients in a timely and appropriate manner and demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and staff Demonstrate the ability to access and assist patients in emergency situations Interviews patients, measure vital signs, including height, weight & BMI, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, allergies, review medication lists and document correct information in electronic medical record Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations as ordered by the provider while following established protocols Review radiographic images for quality and completeness before submitting them for provider interpretation Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images Follow radiation safety practices, including proper shielding and minimizing radiation exposure for patients, staff, and self (ALARA principles) Assist the provider as needed during exams, treatments and procedures including acting as a chaperone for sensitive exams and procedures Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and maintain instruments Ensure proper handling, storage, and transmission of digital radiographic images Maintain compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies related to diagnostic imaging Anticipates and prepares supplies needed for procedures to expedite patient care Clean dirty instruments and to properly prepare them for sterilization as applicable Perform EKGs when requested by provider Demonstrate ability to do Audiogram and Vision Tests Setting up suction and/or oxygen per provider request Assist with EPSDT exams and update form and Health Maintenance Information Complete Growth and Development Charts and Immunization Records (including MIIX) Demonstrate the knowledge to operate clinical equipment Do daily equipment checks (Ex – AED, Suction Machine, EKG, Oxygen, Sporox, Instruments, Etc.) Willingness to assist providers, nurses and the front office as needed Prompt in following the provider’s orders Demonstrate appropriate documentation in the EMR/EPIC Effectively communicates with the provider and other staff Adheres to infection-control policies using universal precautions at all times and PPE as appropriate Complete patient referrals, prior authorizations, and patient call backs Perform other duties as assigned Complete are required trainings prior to deadline

Requirements

Requires current Medical Assistant certification, BLS certification through the American Heart Association, and one year of clinical experience. Candidates must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and TB test.
