About the role

The Hematology Technician II performs laboratory analyses, prepares samples, and operates instruments to interpret and release test results. They are also responsible for maintaining quality control guidelines, performing instrument maintenance, and ensuring a clean work area.

Work Shift: Monday-Saturday 11am to 7:30pm, 40 hours The Target Pay for this position is $24.81 an hour.

PURPOSE OF JOB: The Hematology Technician II performs laboratory analyses and tests.

Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function.

Sets up and runs lab tests Read and releases test results Read UA slides, bacteria and path review slides at department minimum rates.

Build hematology and UA loads Operate Atlas UA instrument as requested.

Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines including all instrument maintenance and temperature charts Find missing specimens.

Print and reconcile queue list Maintain organization of storage refrigerator Set up and assist with Avian and Exotic specimens as requested Prepare blood smears and perform re-checks as directed using LTP when necessary.

Library all samples Ensure bar-coded racks are arranged correctly and loaded onto instruments Run all needed quality control and calibration by department Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures Maintains clean and organized work area.

Restock supplies as needed Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation Consult with senior peers on non-complex Hematology tasks to learn through experience May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned We share a collaborative obligation to ensure that we conduct ourselves in the utmost ethical manner and that we hold each other accountable to the values and standards of the organization.

Antech Diagnostics has several processes in place to communicate with leadership and expects that Associates will have a commitment to integrity and uncompromising values.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent, prior/some lab experience preferred and/or 2-, or 4-year degree in science-related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and operating lab instruments preferred Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and Parasitology procedures and equipment helpful.

Attention to detail Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to learn new assignments efficiently and support the work of other teams during low demand periods Communication skills, both verbal and written Positive, can-do attitude Basic math, interpretive and analytical skills.

Strong data entry skills required Personal computer skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software WORKING CONDITIONS: Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.

Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.

The ability to observe details at close range Extended hours may be needed Laboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
