Minimum education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Specialty units may have additional requirements according to their policy.
Current State Nursing License.

*The Emergency Department nurse will develop and maintain a level of educational background in the following areas, but not limited to car of the neurologic patient, cardiac patient, pulmonary patient, burn patients, multiple system failure, trauma care obstetrical emergencies, psychiatric emergencies, EENT emergencies. The Emergency Department nurse must demonstrate competency in triaging of emergency patients, as well as age-specific concerns. The Emergency Department nurse requires knowledge of psychosocial, physiological, and therapeutic components specific to the care of the critically ill and/or injured, through on-going educational activities.
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature changes. A large part of work time is standing or walking.
Subject to certain distasteful patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases. May be scheduled overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours.

Work Hour Limitation Leadership acknowledges that Per Diem (PD) employees are not permitted to work in excess of 1,820 hours per calendar year.

Scheduling Requirements for Applicants Seeking Extended Hours PD applicants requesting to work more than 24 hours per week shall be required to fulfill one weekend per month or two weekend shifts per month, as determined by the operational needs of the unit.
Additionally, such employees will be scheduled for two holidays per year, rotating between winter and summer assignments.

Traditional Per Diem Commitment Applicants seeking a traditional PD schedule (approximately 16 hours per month) must commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, or an equivalent of 16 hours per month.
Final approval of this arrangement will be at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Experience Preference A minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred but not required.
The hiring manager will determine eligibility based on the applicant’s interview performance and relevant professional experience.
Requires a current State Nursing License, BLS certification, and completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Proficiency in emergency triage and care for critically ill or injured patients is essential.
