Complete a comprehensive Home Health Training Competency course to become a certified Home Health Aide. Provide personal care to patients in their residences under the supervision of licensed medical professionals.
A paraprofessional position which is conditionally hired and must successfully complete the entire Home Health Training Competency course and pass the certification test.
The course runs
Monday through
Friday for three weeks from 8:30 � 5 pm. A total of 75 hours are required for each student (59 hours of classroom theory and 16 hours of supervised practical training). This course allows the trainee to advance to a certified Home Health Aide who is specifically trained, competent, and performs assigned functions of personal care to the patient in their residence under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the registered nurse (RN), physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist, and Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). Reports to the Nurse Clinical Manager under New York State requirements.

Performs other duties as required Education and Experience Requirements: Must meet Medicare Conditions of Participation for Home Health Aide training program and competency. Requirements: 100% attendance for all home health aide training course-work classes, as this is a New York State requirement. This will be validated by either the agency signing off a timesheet for Health Quest Home Care or the aide using the GPS program their agency of employment utilizes. Attending Health Quest Home Care office orientation for the duration of hours of each work week that the trainee is not in class to equal the full number of weekly position control hours. Basic Computer and EMR skills Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. License, Registration, or Certification Requirements: HHA Certificate Completion of a NY Department of Health Approved Home Health Aide training program and competency must be obtained per the program requirements for continued employment as a certified home health aide. Valid NYS Drivers License Reliable automobile Proof of Auto Insurance Meet all required Health Quest Home Care health assessment /screening requirements. Working Conditions: Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Significant occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
