Description Job Summary

As a Certified Medication Technician, you will be responsible for safely and accurately assisting residents with their medication management, ensuring their safety and well-being while providing exceptional care and support. This position blends clinical responsibility with personal connection. You will work closely with nursing and wellness team members to ensure that each resident receives the right medication, at the right time, with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications according to physician orders and community protocols. Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and preform vital signs checks. Maintain accurate records in the EHR system. Assist with medication inventory, ordering, and ensuring compliance with storage, counts, and handling regulations. Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Collaborate with the Wellness Director, care team, and healthcare providers to support individualized resident care plans. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe medication area and promote a supportive wellness environment. Provide attentive, compassionate service that respects residents’ mobility, cognitive, and sensory needs. Build meaningful relationships with residents and team members while upholding ethics and integrity.

Requirements

Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED Completion of a Medication Administration training program One year experience providing direct care to seniors in a long term care setting, medication assistant experience in a health care setting preferred. Skills and Qualifications: Basic knowledge of medications and their effects. Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a commitment to high-quality patient care. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accurate documentation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Technological proficiency with EHR systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Sound judgement and ability to make confident ethical decisions. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods. Ability to move comfortably and safely, which can include lifting, bending, stretching, squatting, etc. Ability to safely support resident mobility and perform physical duties associated with caregiving.
