The Referral Intake Review Nurse (RN) is responsible for real‑time monitoring, review, and screening of all incoming faxed referrals to ensure timely response, accurate documentation, and seamless coordination with Intake RNs and the Call Center.

This role supports census stability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency by ensuring referrals are processed promptly and consistently.

All clinical assessments and admission decisions are completed by the Mobile Assessor RN or Intake RN and communicated to the physician on call prior to admission, decline, or transfer for medical clearance.

This role does not perform clinical Intake functions such as walk ins, triage, assessments, directs, crisis intervention, or obtaining admission orders.

Coordinate with the Call Center to resolve discrepancies or confirm receipt of referrals.

Communicate with referring hospitals or facilities to clarify missing or incomplete referral information and ensure accurate documentation.

Maintain accurate logs of referral volume, response times, and outcomes.

Participate in shift huddles to report trends, issues, or workflow concerns.

Ensure all referral documentation is accurate, complete, and entered in real time to support regulatory compliance and continuity of care.

Schedule will cover shifts for planned vacations and unexpected callouts.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (When Fax Volume Is Low): These tasks support the referral workflow without pulling the nurse into clinical Intake duties.

Reconcile AIS and Concord entries for accuracy and completeness.

Audit referral logs for pending or incomplete items.

Follow up on pending referrals requiring clarification or additional information.

Prepare shift‑to‑shift handoff notes summarizing referral activity.

Verify referral outcomes and ensure documentation is closed appropriately.

Market context

Nevada nursing roles need specialized oncology credentials

Nevada nursing demand is often strongest in settings that need licensed clinicians with oncology experience, especially where chemotherapy and immunotherapy are part of daily care. These roles are competitive because employers look for an associate degree, current state licensure, ACLS, and specialized certification in chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, along with cancer pathophysiology knowledge. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits on this platform to save time, then confirm your certifications and tailor your application to oncology experience.
