Job Title

Patient Care Tech.

Department: Progressive Care Unit

Status: Part Time, 24 hours per week

Schedule: 6am-6:30pm

Summary/Objective

Performs reception, clerical & secretarial duties while functioning as the focal communication source in the work station. Works closely with management, staff, families, physicians, other employees, and visitors. Assists to maintain the department in a constant state of readiness and an adequately stocked, well organized and clean department. Assists the nurses in providing the best care for our patients.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Communicates with peers, other health team members, patients and visitors.

Adaptable and flexible. Ability to perform multiple tasks and self-start with minimal direction from nursing staff.

Utilizes AIDET

Resolves problems and adapts easily to change.

Maintains positive working relationships and avoids negativity.

Utilizes down time productively or in a way that benefits the patient. Avoids waste; utilizes equipment and supplies effectively.

Uses computer for only purposes as assigned.

Maintains the current medical record and database.

Maintains up to date manuals/books.

Performs clerical duties and operates various office equipment.

Experience/Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, clerical skills & basic data entry skills preferred.

Possesses a service orientation.

Able to take vital signs

  • Passes EKG testing yearly
