The Surgical Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesia team with airway maintenance, monitoring, and emergency procedures. They are also responsible for equipment preparation, room turnover, and the safe transportation of patients.
To be fully engaged in providing uncompromised safe and quality care to the surgical patient. The Surgical Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesia team with airway maintenance, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency procedures. and nursing with the care of the surgical patient under the supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager. The Surgical Anesthesia Technician will also be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients and equipment.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES Assembles and assists with specific equipment used by surgical staff or anesthesia providers.
Performs daily performance checks on anesthesia machines and disinfects anesthesia equipment as needed.
Completes daily stocking assignments.
Assists with cleaning and surgical room turnover in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintains immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures.
Anticipates needs of clinical team to include the need for invasive monitoring and to provide efficient support.
Assists with patient positioning and other appropriate duties as assigned by management.
Personally facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients to and from surgical services via stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, and cribs; ensures all patient’s belongings, paperwork, labs, and equipment accompany them to their destination.
Applies Tele Pak Monitor on patient when required, follows process for ensuring patient rhythm is visible and verifies with monitor tech.
Cleans stretcher and wheelchair after each patient transport with hospital approved germicidal product.
Monitors patient while enroute and responds immediately and appropriately should patient require emergent assistance.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience: Previous surgical or operating room experience or previous anesthesia technician experience.
