About the role

The role involves managing both outpatient cardiology clinics and inpatient hospital care, including conducting examinations and establishing treatment plans. The provider will collaborate with physicians to order diagnostic procedures and proctor nuclear stress tests.

Overview Advanced Practice Provider – General Cardiology – Piedmont Athens Regional Piedmont Athens Regional is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team.

This is a full-time position and will include a night call, weekend, and holiday rotation.

Piedmont Heart Institute provides the full line of cardiovascular services with dedicated electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, critical care, and interventional services.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Ambulatory care responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a. Conduct outpatient independent cardiology follow up and new patient clinics and reports progress to a supervising physician. b. Establish treatment plans for a wide range of cardiac problems and educates patients on diagnoses and treatment plans. c. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient’s family, and staff. Inpatient hospital responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a. Assist in the evaluation and treatment of Cardiology patients in an inpatient setting b. Take patient history, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient record c. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians and other APPs d. Order and schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients e. Proctor nuclear stress tests f. Work alongside physicians and APPs in a collaborative, team-based environment

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board or NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing *Previous cardiology experience as an APP strongly preferred. Candidates must be a licensed Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner with a Master's degree and a current Georgia license. Previous experience as an APP in cardiology is strongly preferred.
