About the role

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Behavioral Health Division Manager, provides comprehensive, person-centered, trauma-informed behavioral health services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns. Conducts biopsychosocial and substance use assessments, develops collaborative treatment plans, provides evidence-based psychotherapy, coordinates care with interdisciplinary providers, and connects individuals with community resources that support recovery, wellness, and improved quality of life. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Intake and assessment: Conduct comprehensive, person-centered behavioral health assessments, including mental health, substance use, trauma, psychosocial, risk, and functional assessments. Gather relevant information regarding presenting concerns, strengths, goals, medical history, behavioral health history, family and social supports, education, employment, legal involvement, housing, and other social determinants of health.
  • Assessment: Utilize standardized screening and assessment tools, including ASAM Criteria and other evidence-based instruments, to support clinical decision-making and determine appropriate level of care. Formulate DSM diagnoses, when clinically appropriate, and develop individualized treatment recommendations in collaboration with the individual receiving services.
  • Consultation and Supervision: Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, and case consultation. Consult with psychiatrists, primary care providers, and other clinicians regarding assessment findings, treatment planning, and clinical interventions. Provide clinical recommendations that support integrated, coordinated, and person-centered care.
  • Clinical Services: Provide integrated treatment for individuals with mental health, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders. Monitor clinical progress through ongoing assessment, observation, and therapeutic engagement. Support individuals in developing skills that promote recovery, resilience, emotional wellness, and improved daily functioning.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and revise individualized, recovery-oriented treatment plans in partnership with the individual, incorporating their goals, strengths, preferences, cultural values, and natural supports. Provide evidence-based psychotherapy utilizing appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Case Management: Coordinate referrals and linkage to community resources and supportive services that promote recovery and independence. Collaborate with individuals, families, community providers, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate access to appropriate behavioral health and social services. Advocate for individuals in obtaining services and reducing barriers to care.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in accordance with Wisconsin DHS regulations, applicable licensure standards, payer requirements, and agency policies. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, agency training, and continuing education to maintain licensure and competency. Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health practices, Wisconsin DHS standards, integrated care models, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

Requires a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Candidates must maintain continuing education credits as prescribed by the Wisconsin Administrative Code and the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
