One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Operating Room Tech, you will be a vital member of the healthcare team, providing technical and supportive services in the Operating Room under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/Supervisor/Clinical Coordinator.Every day you will access or distribute drugs, needles, or syringes to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as per hospital policy.
Your role ensures seamless and safe OR function, supporting surgical procedures and maintaining sterility.
To be successful in this role, you will be required to have great attention to detail, strong surgical and sterile technique knowledge, excellent teamwork, and adherence to all policies.
Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously.
Refers to each individual by name when appropriate.
Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass.
Operates, cleans and maintains equipment.
Collects, processes and sterilizes articles from all areas including Operating Room on a priority basis.
Serves as SPD liaison with physicians offices and Instrument Vendors by obtaining special requests prior to elective surgery and assuring that required instruments are prepared and available as needed.
With the aid of computer based lists, inspects, maintains, assembles, and picks Operating Room instruments and sets, coordinating activities with Operation Room Surgical Schedule and OR Staff.
Runs and monitors the biological test for the stream and Sterrad (low temperature) sterilizers.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, along with 3-5 years of healthcare experience and relevant professional certifications. Specific experience in central service, surgical instrument processing, and general transcription is required.
Job Requirements Required High School Graduate or GED General Studies One year of full time experience as a central service technician Six months experience in processing and assembly of surgical instruments.
Experience requirement may be waived for individuals who have successfully completed a Central Services Technician (CST) externship at Sequoia Hospital.
One year experience in general transcription required.
Two years general secretary experience and Minimum of 3-5 years combined experience in healthcare industry and Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, upon hire or Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire Preferred Experience/training in EKG interpretation preferred.
Experience in billing systems preferred.
Experience in event coordination preferred.
