About the role

Perform basic patient care duties including bathing, feeding, and transporting patients under the supervision of licensed nurses. Responsibilities also include recording vital signs, performing ECGs, and conducting phlebotomy.

Overview Job Summary

Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values. Additionally, under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the patient care associate III performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, bathing, mouth care, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, transporting, ECG and phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Perform basic patient care with minimal supervision and within established policies Accurately check and record vital signs Collect specimens as directed Promptly answer call lights and provide necessary assistance in a timely manner Report patient changes, problems, complaints or requests to appropriate personnel Assist in the maintenance of equipment Perform Electrocardiogram (ECG) Perform Phlebotomy

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED and current BLS certification. Previous experience in patient care is preferred.
