Performs a focused nursing assessment including gathering and recording assessment data, observing, monitoring, and reporting signs, symptoms, and changes in a patient's condition in an ongoing manner to the RN or supervising health care provider. Is accountable for all patients assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures and within the scope of practice. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.

Practices nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, licensed physician, or other health care provider authorized by the state.
Collects data and conducts a focused nursing assessment of the health status of a patient.
Participates with other health care providers in the development and modification of the patient-centered health care plan.
Implements nursing interventions within a patient-centered health care plan.
Assists in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
Provides for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care rendered directly or indirectly.
Advocates for the best interest of the patient.
Communicates and collaborates with patients and members of the health care team.
Assists with health counseling and teaching.
Delegates and assigns nursing interventions to implement the plan of care.
