  • Technician to work the evening shift from 3:00pm - 11:30pm. This position is a full time, benefits eligible position. Position includes an every other weekend commitment. Malvern has recently increased their shift differential! The mental health technician assists in the direct care & management of patients across a young adult age range with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Assists with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living with the functional ability of patients and with consideration for the patient's level of growth and development.

Demonstrates understanding of program & philosophy & is able to interpret & implement patient care. Displays an active interest in learning. Demonstrates creativity & problem solving skills. Demonstrates leadership by training new employees. Effectively interacts with patients, peers, & families. Demonstrates ability to follow behavior program. Actively supervises therapeutic & recreational activities. Understands & practices effective motivational techniques. Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve & communicate clearly, both verbally & in writing. Demonstrates regular, required attendance. Malvern Behavioral Health is an acute behavioral health unit which helps young adults, ages 18 to 26, overcome mental health illnesses and addictions so that they can become thriving adults. We use a diverse range of treatment options, including evidence-based practices, to help individuals with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, addictions, and psychosis.     • REQUIREMENTS: Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform HWC techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending Physicians, and other department representatives.

    Administration: Blood Borne Pathogens Standards, CFR 1910.1030 This position is susceptible to reasonably anticipated skin, eye, mucous membrane, or potential contact with blood or other potentially infectious material that may result from the performance of an employee’s duties or “occupational exposure.” However, all employees have access to the facility’s Exposure Control Plan and MSDS Sheets. Knowledge of appropriate policies, procedures, and plans is required.

    EXPOSURE: Category 1-Blood borne disease exposure through contact with contaminated blood and body fluids.

    Requirements

    Requires a high school diploma and certifications in CPR and Handle With Care. Candidates must be physically capable of assisting with patient restraints and working in an acute behavioral health environment.
