The scribe is responsible for accurately documenting medical visits, procedures, and patient histories in real-time to increase physician productivity. Additional duties include preparing referral letters, coordinating schedules, and performing general administrative tasks.
Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to: Patient medical history and physical exam. Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants. Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits. Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up. Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician. Ensure documentation must be accurate, complete, and consistent with legal, ethical, and practice protocols and standards. Work closely with physician assistant and may be required to providing scribing support as needed. Work closely with multiple departments/parties to coordinate schedule availability to ensure balance of office and surgery time scheduled. Handle additional duties as required. Miscellaneous administrative tasks may include preparing referral letters, mailing/faxing/scanning confidential documents regarding a patients care and with all pertinent reports or tests attached as well as research a variety of information as needed for referring physicians, referrals, preparation of operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned. QualificationsRequirements and Qualifications Minimum 2 years scribing or medical office experience preferred. Medent / EMR experience preferred. HS Diploma required. Physical Demands Position requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Involves standing and walking. Team member will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.
