Worksite Location: On-Site 100% Job Summary: Kitsap Mental Health Services seeks a skilled and compassionate Substance Use Disorder Professional to join our multidisciplinary Pathways team. This role involves assessing, planning, developing, coordinating, and providing clients treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. The ideal candidate will provide integrated, collaborative mental health and substance use disorder services, ensuring compliance with relevant contracts and regulatory agencies. General Summary of Duties: Assist agency interdisciplinary team in further assessing and treating substance use of KMHS Clients. Request, gather, and coordinate information from all sources to facilitate appropriate treatment decisions. Provide direct services for those currently using substances, utilizing recommended substance use treatment practices. Services may include individual & family therapy, group therapy, psycho-educational workshops, recovery skill building groups, and crisis intervention. Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to engage the people we serve who maintain ambivalence related to pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Develop written treatment plans with integrated interventions to address issues across the health continuum, with emphasis on substance use disorders. Utilize motivational interviewing, stages of change theory, harm reduction, stage-wise treatment strategies and other behavioral interventions as clinically indicated. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the unique presentation and needs of clients experiencing co-occurring disorders. Demonstrate a working knowledge of medications used in the treatment of SUD (MAT). Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Provide crisis intervention services as indicated by assessment and treatment process. Recognize and intervene according to continuous assessment throughout the individual’s treatment episode. Monitor assigned individuals for compliance with court-ordered requirements such as LRAs and substance-related mandates. Follow all WACs and RCWs required of mandated individuals. Provide legal documents and reports. Perform random urine drug screening (UDS) as clinically indicated. Document all clinical services thoroughly and accurately and submit all documentation in a timely manner per agency policy and contractual/WAC requirements. Pursue professional growth and development by seeking out learning opportunities, coordinate with unit manager to share with team, and if approved, integrate into work practices. Maintain working knowledge of current Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health treatment recommendations, trends in community mental health, including health care reform, electronic medical record, and computer technology. Focus on teamwork, teambuilding, and the maintenance of a positive work atmosphere to best provide for the people we serve. SUDPT EDUCATION: Associate’s degree. High School Diploma or GED accepted if enrolled in educational program as defined in WAC 246-811-10. EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience) LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Current certification as Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUPDT) in Washington State. SUDP EDUCATION: Associate’s degree. EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience) LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Current certification as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUPD) in Washington State.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social services, or behavioral health field. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Performance Requirements: KNOWLEDGE: Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in agency-trainings and other agency-mandated trainings Maintain working knowledge of current Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health treatment recommendations, trends in community mental health, including health care reform, electronic medical record, and computer technology. Knowledge of substance use disorder intervention models and techniques, harm reduction, group facilitating, and treatment planning. Knowledge of childhood development and family systems. SKILLS Experience working with youth, collaborating with schools, care givers, and wraparound teams. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public. Communicates clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively, organizing workload by prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Maintain productivity standards as established by policy and evaluated by unit manager. Strong organizational skills to include use of Electronic Health Record software or equivalent for scheduling, time management and all clinical ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. Ability to work independently meanwhile being inclusive to team members. Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Work Environment: Residential treatment facility or outpatient clinical setting. Mental/Physical Requirements: While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, and listen. Peripheral vision is also required for this position. Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
Requires a current Washington State SUDP or SUDPT certification and an Associate's degree (or high school diploma if enrolled in a program). Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor's degree and have experience with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse.
