The Registered Nurse plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates, and promotes the continuity of patient care consistent with established standards, including assessing health status, collecting data, and providing patient/family teaching and psychosocial support. Key duties involve preparing and administering therapies under physician direction, managing medication refills, assisting with exams, facilitating patient flow, and coordinating consultations and tests.
Under minimal supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Provides nursing care from initial patient contact through high dose chemotherapy followed by stem cell rescue to follow-up care post stem cell rescue Key Responsibilities (Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.): Manages symptoms/toxicities/health abnormalities related to the intense high dose therapy, stem cell rescue and rehabilitation following rescue in collaboration with transplant physician and/ supervisor. Key Responsibilities (Facilitates clinical operations and patient care): Reports data to company for Transplant related registries and appropriate bodies, International Autologous and Blood and Marrow Transplant Registries. Incorporates company Transplant Network recommendations into clinical practice as assigned. Key Responsibilities (Inter professional collaboration): Assists in providing community education to those interested in the process of stem cell transplantation. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program, preferably with a BSN, hold an active RN state license, and possess current BLS certification, maintaining all continuing education requirements. A minimum of five years of nursing experience is required, with at least one year in oncology being preferred, and oncology certification is also preferred.
