The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluations and ongoing pharmacological treatment while monitoring for medication side effects. They are also responsible for supervising nurse practitioners and participating in on-call rotations.

Job description

Summary of position

  • Provides psychiatric evaluation and on-going treatment. Ensures accuracy of diagnosis and appropriate pharmacological intervention. Monitors for medication side effects. Supports appropriate multidisciplinary interventions, maintains the electronic medical record. Provides supervision to nurse practitioners and ensures appropriate documentation of supervision and compliance with State regulations. Maintains collegial participation with other clinic staff. Participates in the on
  • call rotation as assigned. Attends specified clinic, medical staff, and educational meetings (see addendum for meetings) Maintains record of CME. Reviews appropriate current literature in psychiatry.
  • Essential duties & responsibilities
  • Provides psychiatric evaluations and follow-up from patients in a way that conforms to expectations derived from current clinical consensus superimposed on the standard of care
  • Manages clinical data in a manner that enhances patient care and conforms to professional standards, including communication with other healthcare providers
  • Problem solves around clinical and organizational issues with staff and peers in a productive manner
  • Provides leadership in management of psychiatric emergencies
  • Responds to patient and staff questions in a way that is both timely and helpful
  • Attends annual medical staff meeting, quarterly medical staff meetings and other clinical meetings as required
  • Consistently meets productivity expectation of minimum
  • Supervision of staff assigned under their leadership
  • Compliance with annual KPI evaluations and Catalytic Coaching
  • Must provide supervision of Nurse Practitioner staff

Qualifications

Education Level

MD Degree required.

Years of Experience

Relevant experience required.

Certification/Licensure

Medical licensure in the State of Tennessee Board certified/board eligible in adult psychiatry unless long-standing exception. Board certified/board eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry if hired to provide specialty service to children and adolescents.

Pay Range

$212,300.00--$318,400.00

Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD degree and possess medical licensure in the State of Tennessee. Board certification or eligibility in adult psychiatry is required, with additional certification for child and adolescent services if applicable.
