About the role

The RN provides patient-centered, culturally sensitive care across various specialties within the Flexible Staffing Unit. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

Overview CentraState Healthcare System, in partnership with Atlantic Health, is a fully accredited, not-for-profit, community-based health system dedicated to providing comprehensive health services in central New Jersey.

Located in Freehold, CentraState includes a 284-bed acute-care hospital, a dynamic health and wellness campus, two award-winning senior living communities, a charitable foundation, and convenient satellite health pavilions.

These pavilions offer primary care, specialty physician practices, and access to outpatient services such as lab work and physical therapy.

The Flexible Staffing Unit offers registered nurses a unique opportunity to gain experience across a variety of specialties and patient care settings.

This unit provides broad exposure to highly specialized departments, allowing nurses to fulfill a vital support role across the organization.

Flex Nurses are warmly welcomed and experience the fulfillment of contributing to compassionate, high-quality care throughout the medical center.

CentraState Medical Center currently has an opening for a Registered Nurse (RN) within the Flexible Staffing Unit.

The RN delivers culturally sensitive, patient-centered care in accordance with ANA standards, the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and CentraState’s policies and procedures.

Utilizing evidence-based practice and the nursing process, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Effectiveness of care is measured through the analysis of nurse-sensitive indicators and patient results.

Orientation includes successful completion of Critical Care, IV Therapy, and Respiratory Care courses, as well as clinical rotations through assigned nursing units.

Orientation and annual renewals also include non-violent crisis intervention training.

Care is delivered using a multidisciplinary, patient-focused model that emphasizes collaboration, safety, and clinical excellence.

Hours

full-time 36hours/week. 7p-7:30a, every other weekend.

Responsibilities

Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patient's individual needs to ensure patient satisfaction. Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law. Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate. Obtains a complete nursing history and baseline assessment that is systematic, consistent and continuous. This assessment is communicated effectively utilizing Hand-off policy and documented. Documents results of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan nursing interventions and evaluation and patient progress in medical record according to hospital/nursing policy and the Nursing Standards of Care/Practice for the specific patient type. Appropriately analyzes patient information /assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services of other clinical professionals. Identifies patient problems and formulates nursing diagnosis according to physical, psychological, spiritual/cultural and educational needs in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary approach. Consistently includes patient and family in the development of an individualized plan of care. Administers medication as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions. Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence. Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions. Participates in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies. Delegates components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate. Follows up on any delegated components of care and assignments given. Make decisions that demonstrate knowledge of nursing practice; utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations. Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the best patient outcomes. Follow CSHS Pain Assessment policy. Successfully functions as a Resource Nurse, making decisions in the absence of the Clinical Leader and/or the Nurse Manager. Supports cost containment through efficient use of equipment, supplies and other pertinent resources. Recognizes adverse reaction to medications and takes immediate and appropriate action. Evaluates the patient's needs for discharge and accesses appropriate resources for the patient and/or family. Consistently provides written and verbal education to patients and/or families. Successfully functions as a preceptor/mentor to students and new staff members. Consistently promotes teamwork within the unit and between departments. Consistently adheres to hospital policy regarding the insertion, maintenance and removal of foley catheters. Able to verbalize and demonstrate proper rationale and techniques surrounding all aspects of indwelling urinary catheter care as per policy #4668. Fulfills the requirements for competencies and completion of annual mandatories surrounding indwelling urinary catheters. Supports operations by demonstrating ability and willingness to float between units as an RN and provides 1:1 patient observation when deemed necessary

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire. Minimum 3 years current acute care nursing experience required. Experience in ICU/CCU or ED preferred RN license/NJ required. CPR certification required. CSMC IV certification to be achieved within the first year. ACLS Certification to be achieved within the first year. Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia course to be achieved within the first year. Stroke education requirements to be achieved within the first year. Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required. New hires must receive certification within 3 months of hire. Renewal certifications will be completed every 2 years. Specialty professional nursing certification preferred. Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range. Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable. Requirements

Candidates must hold a valid New Jersey RN license and CPR certification, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Additional certifications in ACLS, IV therapy, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention are required within specific timeframes after hire.
