The Speech Therapist is responsible for, but not limited to

Contributes to the effectiveness of the department/unit by remaining within the acceptable standard of the Agency's Attendance/Tardiness Control Policy.

Assumes responsibility for a patient caseload, demonstrating clinical expertise with specific diagnosis which include speech/language disorders. (Phonology, morphology, syntax, etc.) and dysphagia (oral, pharyngeal, esophageal and myofunctional disorders.) 5.

Speech therapy includes providing assessment, treatment and intervention to patients with speech, voice, language communication, swallowing and related disabilities.

Provides consultation and counseling to patients, as well as families, caregivers and other service providers related to the speech disorders.

Provision of services that support the effective use of augmentative and alternative communication devices and other communication prostheses and assistive devices.

Evaluate treatment outcomes to assess effectiveness.

Services are modified in relation to their evaluations.

Referrals are made in relation to their outcomes.

Documents plan of care and all services provided.

Maintains patient records according to Agency policy.

Education

Master's Degree in Speech Therapy

Professional Experience

Current Speech Therapist Certification in the state of operations

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's Degree in Speech Therapy and a current state certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist. At least 3 years of experience in Home Health, Acute Care, or Rehabilitation facilities is required.
