The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide individualized care to a variety of surgical and trauma patients. Responsibilities include managing complex post-surgical needs, handling tubes and drains, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Join a fast paced, team oriented, dynamic environment caring for a variety of trauma and surgical patients! We hope that you are detail driven, adaptable, kind, and open to a challenge!

This unit is comprised of a 44-bed unit and additional 11-bed overflow unit with telemetry capabilities for surgical patients.

The unit provides care to a variety of patient populations, most frequently being surgical related.

The unit works closely with several different surgeon groups and patients including general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, OB-GYN surgery, bariatric surgery, and trauma-related surgery.

The RN working on this unit learns to manage the complex needs of a number of different surgical procedures, in addition to the medical history/needs of patients.

This diversity creates an excellent opportunity to learn and establish a strong critical thinking and time management skill set.

The unit works closely with other departments such PACU and ICU as patients transition from these departments to 2000. The technical, hands-on skills of nursing are used every day on the unit, as most patients come with a number of tubes, lines, drains, and/or wound cares/dressing changes. This combination creates a challenging, fast-paced environment to work in, and provides an opportunity for learning, growth, and a strong foundation for any nursing career.

Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
