The Universal Aide provides compassionate personal care, social support, and environmental maintenance for residents in a care facility. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health vitals, and performing light housekeeping duties.
The Universal Aide is a member of the Orchard View Care Team who assists the RN Manager, LPN Clinical Care Coordinator, Charge Person, and Activities Director in meeting the personal care, social, and environmental needs of Orchard View residents. Essential
Provide compassionate and individualized care to residents. Assist residents with personal care needs when necessary (i.e.: baths, dressing, incontinence care, foot soaks, etc.). Immediately report any changes in resident’s condition, incidents, or accidents, to the Charge person. Complete light cleaning/housekeeping tasks on Orchard View as scheduled and/or as needed to include dusting, vacuuming, changing bedding, etc. Night shift will have a routine light housekeeping schedule to do and sign off on daily. Must be knowledgeable and respect resident’s rights and support the Bethany Village Gentle Care philosophy. Maintain resident confidentiality. Cooperate with other departments and fellow employees at all times to maintain a resident centered environment. Maintain regular resident care notes on all residents and complete incident/accident reports as needed. Follow established policies and procedures specific to respective department. Monitor all areas for compliance with DOH/DSS Regulations. Knowledgeable of the delayed egress system / door Alarms on Orchard View. Basic
Prepare light meals and/or snacks for residents in between meals. Take vital signs and weights in accordance with policy. Assist resident to and from dining area and activities as necessary. Accompany residents to the hospital or physician appointments as requested. Obtain food and dietary supplies from Dietary when necessary and deliver to the Unit and/or residents as needed. Clean kitchen area after meals and at night. Adheres to all fire safety & evacuation procedures. All other duties as assigned.
Education Required: High school education or GED preferred. Ability to read and write English is also required for this position. HHA certified or equivalent combination of Resident Care, Personal Care, and C.N.A. preferred. First Aide Certification Experience Required: Genuine interest in the geriatric resident. Prior experience working with dementia residents preferred. Additional Qualifications: Must be able to communicate with co-workers, residents, and the families of the residents. Dependable, prompt, tactful, patient, a desire to work with geriatric residents. Resident-focused at all times, while acting as a pleasant professional is essential.
