Responsibilities

  • The Anesthesia Tech is responsible for performing various patient-care, safety, and technical duties to support anesthesia and nursing teams in surgical and procedural areas.
  • The anesthesia technician responds to patient-specific needs including blood, medications, supply and equipment during the surgical procedure.
  • This position performs patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications.
  • This position operates surgical equipment under the direction of a licensed provider.
  • The anesthesia tech ensures all ORs and pre/post rooms are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and required equipment.
  • The position ensures ORs, procedure and prepost rooms are cleaned and prepared for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • The anesthesia technician cleans equipment and implements infection control policies to support the anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural areas.
  • This position is an active member of the Anesthesia OR emergency response/code team and assures all emergency safety equipment is available and in working order.
  • In specified pre-post areas Anesthesia Techs assist in patient intake with tasks that include obtaining height, weight, and vitals as well as attaching other appropriate monitoring devices.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of one year of clinical/hospital experience Preferred.
  • Applicant must be proficient in speaking and reading English.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must be self-directed and able to make independent decisions.
  • Experience working in a surgical area preferred.
  • Experience with direct patient care, CNA or PCA preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with others in a team setting.
  • Have strong independent problem solving skills to respond to unpredictable situations, able to multitask, and be flexible with changes in the work flow.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must Possess working skills and knowledge of Microsoft computer systems.
  • Must be able to concentrate, pay attention to detail and remain focused for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Requires adequate use of both hands and the ability to lift over 20 lbs., walk long distances and kneel/bend occasionally along with long periods of standing.
  • BLS Certified or the ability to be obtained within six months of hire.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification, with a preference for clinical experience or CNA/PCA backgrounds. Candidates must be proficient in English and possess strong computer and communication skills.
