About the role

  • Akicita Federal is hiring a Pharmacist to deliver essential pharmacy services to the Navajo Nation community served by the Indian Health Service in Tsaile, AZ. This role puts you at the heart of a community health mission, providing direct pharmaceutical care to an underserved Native American population. You will work on-site as a key clinical contributor, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and culturally responsive medication management.
  • Dispense and verify prescription medications accurately, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct medication therapy reviews and consult directly with patients on proper drug use, dosing, and potential interactions
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to optimize patient medication regimens
  • Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and intervene appropriately to prevent medication-related harm
  • Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy records in accordance with federal and facility requirements
  • Manage controlled substance inventory and ensure DEA compliance at all times
  • Provide clinical guidance and drug information support to the broader care team as needed \n

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent pharmacy degree from an accredited institution
  • Current, valid Pharmacist license/registration (must be in good standing)
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule of approximately 2,080 hours annually \n What sets candidates apart:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Prior experience providing pharmacy services in a federal, tribal, or Indian Health Service facility
  • Familiarity with serving Native American or other rural, underserved patient populations
  • Experience working in an ambulatory care or outpatient clinic pharmacy setting
  • Board certification in a pharmacy specialty (e.g., BCPS, BCACP)
