Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License, required. Bachelors of Science Degree in biology or related science Must demonstrate basic computer skills as required to successfully perform their job duties Knowledge of basic lab testing principles Able to follow written and verbal instructions related to patient testing Job Duties: Follows established procedures to perform routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing. Performs all Laboratory Information system functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing. Participates in continuing education programs and consults current technical literature to keep abreast of changes in the field. Promotes good public relations through productive and professional interaction with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdown; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books. Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps Completes projects by assisting project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
