Responsibilities

  • The Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for performing age-specific assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patient's individual needs.
  • This includes assessment and evaluation of speech, language, cognitive/communication disorders and swallowing dysfunction.
  • The SLP develops a plan of care, performs treatment as indicated, assesses patients' response to treatment, and assists with discharge planning.
  • The SLP utilizes equipment, materials, and devises and/or adapts treatment strategies to maximize a patient's swallow function and/or communication potential.
  • The SLP provides education related to the diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care of the communication disorder to the patient, family/caregiver and other members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Communication Disorders, Speech Pathology, or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Will consider CFY candidate.
