  • Category: Veterinary ServicesUpstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a compassionate, organized, and team-oriented Specialty Veterinary Assistant to support our Cardiology department and help deliver exceptional patient care. In this role, you'll work alongside veterinarians and technicians to ensure efficient workflow, provide hands-on patient support, assist with diagnostics and procedures, and create a positive experience for both clients and patients.   • You'll Do: Safely restrain patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures using low-stress handling techniques Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, diagnostics, and procedural preparation Process laboratory and diagnostic samples accurately and efficiently Prepare and obtain patient medical histories while ensuring accurate documentation Educate and communicate with clients regarding appointments, follow-up care, and patient needs Coordinate appointments and facilitate communication between doctors, technicians, and clients Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and exam rooms Monitor inventory levels and help maintain medical supplies Anticipate doctor and technician needs to support efficient workflow Collaborate with other departments during non-peak times as needed Participate in department meetings, training, and special projects that support hospital growth and patient care

  • For: Experience & Education Previous Veterinary Assistant experience preferred Experience with patient restraint preferred; Fear Free handling techniques are a plus Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred, but not required Skills & Qualifications Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent client service and interpersonal skills Basic computer proficiency and typing skills Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-first mindset Commitment to Upstate Veterinary Specialties' core values of Dedication, Compassion, and Knowledge Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a supportive specialty hospital environment
