About the role

Perform routine microbiology tasks and assist in other laboratory disciplines as needed. Operate specialized equipment such as Vitek and Virtuo to prepare and analyze specimens.

Medical Technologist- PRN Position: Cover weekends in Microbiology on a rotational basis and cross-train in another area to help assist coverage

Job Summary

  • Performs routine Microbiology tasks plus assist in another discipline ( to be determined based on expertise)
  • Prepares specimens for microscope examination
  • Operates laboratory equipment including Vitek, Virtuo, centrifuges, incubators
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Performs a variety of tasks
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Typically reports to supervisor or manager

Qualifications

  • Requires graduation from an accredited MT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent ( AMT)
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
