About the role

Provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse and participate in developing and implementing therapeutic care plans. Support Family Medicine clinics and potentially float to Pediatrics or other specialty outreach clinics.

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 50%25 (20 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC West Branch Family Medicine Clinic.

This position will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records.

Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.

In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.

In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.

Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification Basic Cardiac Life Support provider Special Qualification/License: Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desired Requirements Previous EPIC experience Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience Strong phlebotomy skills Desirable Qualifications Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role Previous phlebotomy experience Previous immunization experience Previous experience with lab audits Previous experience handling and processing lab specimens Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position In order to be considered, applicants must upload resume (under submission relevant materials) that clearly address how they meet the listed required and desired qualifications of this position.
