The Family Preservation Specialist is responsible for coordinating all aspects of clinical treatment for the assigned children and families in Circuit 5.

The specialist engages with the children and families firsthand and may provide individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and crisis intervention.

The specialist works in a team approach with the Family Preservation Case Manager.

The specialist renders diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families.

The specialist participates as member of the clinical team and the program and is responsible for maintaining client records.

Services are provided in the home to meet the unique needs of the families served.

Essential functions

Provides direct services to children and their families which may include

  • · Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments and engagement
  • · Determines DSM V diagnosis in consultation with the supervisor and/or Clinical Director as needed
  • · Develops treatment plans and contracts for services
  • · Implements treatment plans, modifying as appropriate during treatment
  • · Participates in discharge planning, which may include linking to community services
  • · Provides case management services when indicated
  • · Completes clinical documentation required by Kids Central, program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources
  • · Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed counseling degree. At least three years providing clinical services and/or in home services to children and families

Licensure/Certifications

Current Background Clearance Screening Letter: Valid Florida driver’s license

Proof of vehicle insurance

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with children, parents, and community agencies/personnel
  • Organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task
  • Excellent working knowledge of automated systems (systems used for this position include but are not limited to Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN), Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to work well as a team member and independently
  • Experience in providing clinical services, coordinating systems of care, working within complex family systems and experience providing in-home services

Work environment and physical demands

This job regularly operates in the field (homes, community agencies) and in a professional office environment. This job consists of regularly driving your personal vehicle.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Repetitive motion is also required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Requirements
