About the role

The Intake Counselor coordinates the admissions process by handling inquiry calls, processing referrals, and communicating with referral sources. Additional duties include patient registration, insurance verification, and performing non-clinical tasks like checking vitals and monitoring bed availability.

Responsibilities

The Call Specialist is responsible for coordinating aspects of the admissions process. This includes, but is not limited to, efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, processing of referrals for possible admission, and knowledge of and communication with referral sources and customers who present for assessment. Additional responsibilities may include patient registration and insurance verification, checking vitals, wanding incoming patients, patient observations, scheduling of evaluations, bedboard monitoring, belongings searches, providing report to units, facilitating teleassessments for on-call staff, and other non-clinical duties assigned by admissions director. Non-exempt position.

Qualifications

Education/Licensure: Bachelors degree in social work, mental health/behavioral sciences, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in direct clinical experience in a psychiatric/mental health/chemical dependency setting.
  • Additional
  • Requirements: Completion of CPR course and completion of HANDLE WITH CARE within 90 days of employment. Thorough knowledge of TJC, HCFA, OSHA, state and federal regulatory requirements.

  • Work: Evenings-Weekends and other times as indicated by admissions director, as needed.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in social work, mental health, behavioral sciences, or a related field. A minimum of two years of direct clinical experience in a psychiatric, mental health, or chemical dependency setting is required.
