• DESCRIPTION: The Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) manages the recovery of patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. Responsibilities include supervising exercise sessions, monitoring ECG, and evaluating patient vitals. They educate patients on lifestyle modifications, coordinate care with cardiologists, and provide immediate emergency life support when needed.

• Assessment: Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing physical assessments, including measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels before, during, and after exercise.

• Monitoring: Interpret ECG to monitor heart rhythms and watch for signs of exercise intolerance, arrhythmias, or ischemia.
• Patient
• Education: Develop individualized recovery plans and educate patients/families on heart-healthy habits, medications, and diet.
• Emergency
• Response: Prepare for and initiate ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and emergency care protocols if patients experience adverse cardiac events.
• Interdisciplinary
• Collaboration: Work closely with a wider medical team, including exercise physiologists, dietitians, and cardiologists.
