• DESCRIPTION: The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Respiratory Therapist (CRRT) is a specialized allied health professional who designs and implements customized treatment plans for patients with chronic heart and lung conditions. They evaluate respiratory function, monitor vitals during therapeutic exercises, and manage equipment like oxygen therapies and ventilators to improve patients' overall quality of life.

• Assessment: Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing physical assessments, including measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels before, during, and after exercise.
• Cardiac
• Monitoring: Interpret ECG to monitor heart rhythms and watch for signs of exercise intolerance, arrhythmias, or ischemia.
• Patient
• Education: Develop individualized recovery plans and educate patients/families on heart-healthy habits, medications, and diet.
• Emergency
• Response: Prepare for and initiate ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and emergency care protocols if patients experience adverse cardiac events.
• Interdisciplinary
• Collaboration: Work closely with a wider medical team, including exercise physiologists, dietitians, and cardiologists.
