Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the ED for adult and pediatric patients, including trauma, neurological emergencies, stroke protocols, and acute medical/surgical conditions
- Perform rapid assessments, triage, continuous monitoring, and interventions per ED protocols; interpret dysrhythmias and manage IV access, medications, blood products, and ventilated patients
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response, unit secretary, and interpretation services to coordinate timely care
- Document care in the EMR (EPIC) and follow SBAR communication for handoffs; maintain patient safety and infection control standards
- Support trauma and neuro teams for complex cases; monitor for multi-system concerns and execute procedural or sedation needs as indicated
- Maintain appropriate patient ratios (approximately 1:5) and participate in floating to support department needs
Requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand (required to submit)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (required)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER/trauma or critical care experience
- EPIC experience is required
- Ability to work nights and float to other ED units as needed; comfortable caring for neonates through geriatrics in a combined adult/pediatric ED
- Education: RN degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Distance/eligibility: Travel assignment with location-specific eligibility requirements; please verify distance policy with the recruiter before submittal
