Provide comprehensive nursing care and frequent neurological evaluations for adult patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to implement care plans and educate patients and families on rehabilitation and discharge.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Perform thorough patient assessments, including frequent neurological evaluations and monitoring for changes in condition. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately. Monitor patients recovering from neurosurgical procedures, stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, spinal conditions, and other neurological illnesses. Recognize and respond promptly to changes in neurological status and other medical emergencies. Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, therapists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR). Adhere to hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state. Candidates do not need a West Virginia RN license in hand at the time of application. Licensure may be obtained prior to the start of the assignment, if required by the facility. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current BLS Certification required. Current ACLS Certification required. Minimum of 2 years of recent Neuro, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Stepdown, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred. Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center or Teaching Hospital is highly preferred. Strong neurological assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Important Assignment Requirements This is a contract position at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital. Local candidates will not be considered. Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment. Must meet all facility credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to the start of the assignment.
