About the role

The Medical Assistant supports interdisciplinary oncology teams by collecting patient data, administering injections, and assisting with clinical procedures. They are also responsible for coordinating referrals, managing exam room inventory, and providing patient communication support.

Overview

Infusion Medical Assistant - Float Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is looking to add a Medical Assistant to join our interdisciplinary oncology care teams across multiple locations and specialties.

As a vital member of our clinical teams, Medical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion.

Medical Assistants play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $22.00-$40.55 The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Collect and document patient data including vital signs and medication updates.
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff with exams, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
  • Coordinate orders for imaging, labs, referrals, and outside records.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms and maintain inventory.
  • Provide patient communication, scheduling support, and documentation assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • NCMA certification preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requirements

A high school diploma is required, while graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and NCMA certification are preferred. Candidates must have BCLS certification within three months of hire and preferably 1-3 years of experience.
