About the role

Perform independent diagnostic ultrasound examinations and document findings for radiologists and referring physicians. Assist specialty physicians with invasive procedures such as biopsies and amniocentesis using ultrasound guidance.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the care needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently perform ultrasound examinations exercising judgment to recognize and record pathologists and abnormalities necessary to provide a diagnosis.
  • Review patient’s medical records and clinical information to evaluates patient’s condition and to determine the diagnostic information the physician is seeking.
  • Summarize and document findings for radiologists and communicate with referring physicians, radiologists, nursing staff and other departments about the examination.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
  • Assist specialty physicians in performing invasive procedures (e.g., amniocentesis and biopsies) by providing ultrasound guidance for needle entrance.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program required. A minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification required. RDMS required. RVT required (Certified Ultrasonographer position only).
