The Intraoperative RN provides direct nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes during the intraoperative phase. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile fields, and collaborating with the surgical team to deliver evidence-based care.
Prepares the operating room with necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments. Maintains a sterile field and adheres to all aseptic techniques. Monitors the patient’s condition throughout the surgical procedure, including vital signs and overall well-being. Serves as a circulating nurse, facilitating communication between the surgical team and other departments. Documents all intraoperative activities and patient responses accurately and timely. Ensures compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards. Responds to emergencies and rapidly changing situations in the OR. Supports patients emotionally and physically in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Physically demanding, high-stress environment Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions Pushing and pulling heavy objects Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.
