Position Summary

The Clinical Medical Assistant / Orthopedic Technician provides direct patient care support to licensed providers at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center’s Highlands Ranch Clinic. This role serves as a liaison between patients and the care team, supporting efficient clinic flow while delivering high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic and spine care. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare patients for clinic visits by escorting them to exam or imaging rooms, providing gowns/drapes, and assisting with proper positioning for examinations or procedures Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and other clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR) Assist providers during examinations and procedures, including but not limited to: Dressing changes Cast and splint application/removal Suture and staple removal Preparing and drawing up injectable medications (for provider administration) Order X-rays and diagnostic imaging per provider order or protocol; obtain and upload outside imaging results as needed Generate and enter orders for prescriptions, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation therapy, durable medical equipment (DME), and injections as directed by providers Schedule follow-up visits, procedures, injections, and referrals with appropriate providers and facilities Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling in accordance with Panorama protocols, including: Obtaining medical clearances and pre-certifications Gathering informed consent documentation Scheduling preoperative, postoperative, and pre-assessment appointments Reconcile and update patient medical histories at each visit and scan documents into the EMR (e.g., hospital records, disability forms, lab results, medical clearances) Triage patient communications received via phone, voicemail, or patient portal; document interactions in the EMR and communicate provider recommendations Maintain exam rooms by stocking supplies, preparing equipment, cleaning rooms between patients, and adhering to infection control standards Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment per clinic policy Perform other related duties as assigned by providers, nurses, or clinic leadership at the Highlands Ranch location Non-Essential Duties Prepare disability, FMLA, and insurance forms for provider review and signature Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies

Requirements

Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent required Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certified Orthopedic Technician program preferred Minimum of: 2 years of orthopedic or musculoskeletal clinical experience preferred 3 years of medical office or clinical experience preferred Skills & Abilities Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems Knowledge of orthopedic terminology, diagnostics, and surgical procedures (preferred) Experience with casting, splinting, and DME (preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong patient-service focus Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagrammatic instructions Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient safety guidelines Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
