The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care during the preoperative and postoperative periods of the surgical experience. This role utilizes the nursing process framework to ensure high-quality care within the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Uses unique knowledge and skills to contribute to perioperative patient outcomes that are defined as observable or measurable physiological, psychosocial and psychological responses to perioperative nursing interventions. Communicates and collaborates with surgeon(s) and the anesthesiologist continuously regarding the patient’s condition. Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory. Obtains supplies for individual cases, ensures that operating room equipment is available and functioning, and that all appropriate needs of the patient and surgical team are met.
