  • REQUIREMENTS: Regular full time, every other weekend. The position is an every other weekend position of 64 hours in house with 2 weeks between shifts. Hours are Friday 4pm through Monday 630am. GENERAL SUMMARY Under supervision of the Director of Radiology and the Assistant Director of Radiology, the Imaging Technologist II is a mid-level x-ray or sonography position performing a wide variety of imaging exams on patients. Radiology provides services on a 24/7/365 basis and this position can be scheduled to work for any shift, any day (including weekends and holidays), and may include call rotations as needed. Position may be scheduled at any imaging facility within the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services organization.
  • Position consists of one of the following technologists: 1. A technologist registered by the ARRT as a R.T.(R) with active license issued by the IEMA; Division of Nuclear Safety. In addition, an Imaging Technologist II will have one (1) advanced ARRT certification in Mammography, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Quality Management, Bone Densitometry, Cardiac-Interventional Radiography, or Vascular Interventional Radiography. 2. A sonographer who has successfully passed the ARDMS SPI Examination and 1 specialty examination, to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL & HEALTH SERVICES MISSION STATEMENT To provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the communities we serve. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Shows and proves competencies on equipment that the employee utilizes, including: x-ray equipment, MR unit, mammography unit, and/or ultrasound/sonography units. Also demonstrates competency on peripheral equipment within the department. 2. Shows and proves competencies for exams performed. 3. Performs requested exams in reasonable time frame and with high quality. 4. Understands and utilizes ALARA, as well as a high degree of knowledge in MR and magnetic safety. 5. Understands and utilizes age specific communication and abilities. 6. Treats equipment with care. 7. Keeps work area clean and organized. 8. Actively seeks to help others whenever possible and is willing to take on extra duties. 9. Willingness to cross-train and do “non-tech” jobs. 10. Maintain patient privacy and dignity during exams. Understand HIPAA and the relationship of trust with the patient. 11. Mindful of radiation safety to patient, self, and others. 12. Strictly follows hospital infection control policies. 13. Willing to work odd hours during emergencies and vacations and take call as needed. 14. Maintains paperwork in a current and correct manner. Assures all exam paperwork is scanned and saved in PACS. 15. Assist in the maintenance of quality assurance on all department equipment. 16. Maintains licensure current and up-to-date. 17. Maintains exam paperwork and is proficient in the use of PACS. 18. Transports patients when necessary to and from the department in an appropriate manner. 19. Collaborates and coordinates care and imaging consistent with departmental protocol and the instruction of the radiologist. 20. Maintains and assists with departmental documentation and day-to-day reconciliation processes. QualificationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Prolonged standing, walking and transporting of patients. 2. Able to concentrate on detailed work for prolonged periods of time. 3. Able to adjust routine to accommodate patients or department without affecting departmental flow. 4.

Exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue is possible. The Hepatitis B vaccine shall be made available. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Employee may frequently be exposed to blood, body fluids, tissue and x-ray or gamma radiation. Employee may also be exposed to powerful magnetic fields generated by MR scanner. 2. Employee must wear a monitored radiation film badge at all times on duty, and follow universal precautions. 3. Employee may also be exposed to electromagnetic radiation as in CRTs (VDTs). 4. Will have some exposure to routine, repetitive tasks.
