About the role

Perform high-quality ultrasound imaging and fetal echo scans to assist in patient diagnostic work-ups. Provide empathetic patient care and maintain accurate documentation and billing for all examinations.

Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Performs quality and efficient ultrasound imaging in order to assist with a patient's diagnostic work-up.
  • 1.1 Follows routine protocols and/or physician's specific prescriptions when imaging.
  • 2.
  • Performs quality and empathetic patient care in order to ensure patient cooperation, safety and satisfaction.
  • 2.1 Thoroughly explains the procedure and ensures patient physical and emotional comfort.
  • Identifies fetal structures and includes the patient and family in all aspects of the procedure.
  • 3.
  • Performs various documentation, customer service functions.
  • Communicates feedback in order to ensure that the goals of the department are met and that the unit achieves/maintains operational efficiency.
  • 3.1 Correctly completes charges for examinations, 100% of the time, to ensure proper billing.
  • 4.
  • Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
  • 4.1 Is receptive to teaching technologists, student technologists and physicians in Ultrasound.
  • 5.
  • Employee follows established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties in order to ensure a safe environment.
  • 5.1 Operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner, following all Hospital procedures.
  • 6.
  • Employee's general standards of performance and conduct conform to University and Hospital policies so that the best possible patient care may be provided to the patient.
  • 6.1 Fosters interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and fellow employees in a courteous and friendly manner with no more than one valid complaints in a 12?month period, as evidenced by patient satisfaction surveys, patient interviews, physician and employee input.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION EDUCATION (number of years and type required to perform the position duties): Associates Degree, Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • At least two years of specialized training in targeted Level II Perinatal, invasive procedure scanning, (intrauterine procedures including (CVS, amniocentesis, IUTs, multifetal reduction) and fetal echo ultrasound imaging required.
  • RDMS and CPR certification required.
  • EXPERIENCE EXPERIENCE (number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance): Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in Perinatal Diagnostic Ultrasound including in depth experience in targeted Level II Perinatal, invasive procedure scanning, (intrauterine procedures including CVS, amniocentesis, PUBs etc) and fetal echo ultrasound imaging required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with computerized documentation systems required.
  • Prior experience and participation in research and grant-funded activities required.
  • LICENSURE LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: RDMS, OB Certified, Nuchal Certified, Fetal Echo Certified SPECIAL SKILLS SPECIAL SKILLS: Excellent theoretical knowledge of anatomy, pathology and demonstrated proficiency in the use of ultrasound equipment.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in obtaining sonographic images and in discriminating images selected for interpretation.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Required to interact with patients and families to provide information about the content of the sonogram, as it is being conducted.
  • Must possess excellent technical skills in the guidance of invasive procedures including CVS, IUTs, Amniocentesis, etc).
  • Must be able to work accurately, independently and efficiently in order to complete a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) scans per day.
  • PHYSICAL DEMAND SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND: Travel to off-sites required, per staffing needs.

Requires an Associate's degree, RDMS certification, and 3 to 5 years of experience in Perinatal Diagnostic Ultrasound. Must be proficient in targeted Level II Perinatal scans and guiding invasive intrauterine procedures.
